That’s it! Be sure to check out who’s going to conference as (hopefully) the pretty faces and their links start showing up!

If not, now you know a little more about me πŸ™‚

  2. Lauri, what a fun idea! Here are my answers, and I look forward to meeting you! Congrats on the Genesis final!!!

    Name: Erica Vetsch

    Location: Minnesota

    What you write/tagline: Historical Romance

Place in the book world: Multi-published but currently between contracts.

On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: Hugging isn’t my first inclination, but I can brave my way through it for special occasions like ACFW Conference. πŸ™‚

The unique talking point that will get you going for hours: Books, John Wayne movies, Kansas Jayhawks basketball, History and history museums.

People at home you’ll be missing: Oldest child who is finishing her last semester of college. Son who is a senior in high school. Cat who rules the roost. (My husband is coming along with me this year. Our first vacay sans kids in 20+ years!)

Conference goals we can pray for? For a good meeting with the editor at my publishing house.

Up for any contests/awards? Not that I know of this year. πŸ™‚

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? My favorite color is RED, and I love to drink tea.

    1. I also have an appreciation for Jayhawks basketball–except when they are playing the Texas Longhorns πŸ™‚ Best basketball atmosphere ever! Glad you and your husband get a vacation together. I’ll be praying for fresh direction with your projects as you meet with your editor!

    1. Confession: I knew I wanted to be friends with you 1) the minute I saw the picture of you surrounded by books (it was a great first impression!), and 2) that we are kindred spirits with our multi-colored editing pens πŸ™‚

  3. I posted mine on my website, but I thought I’d post here too.

Up for any contests/awards? Genesis finalist in the romantic suspense category.

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? I totally have ADD and this pregnancy is making it worse! Usually I function rather well as a writer without taking any meds for it, but this first-trimester is killing any true ADD-functionality I’ve ever been able to achieve!

People at home you’ll be missing: Hubby will be with me, but I’ll miss my two adult sons – Blake and Stone, and Zeke our outrageously spoiled beagle mix.

    Up for any contests/awards? Yep!!!

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? Yes. I love Strawberry Twizzlers and Ginger ale. Please don’t be alarmed if you see gobs of them threatening to fall to the floor from my over-stuffed purse!

      1. Hi Carol! I’m afraid I’m little too far away from the Springfield group. I live in a small rural area about 50 miles northwest of St. Louis, closer to Hannibal. But if you ladies are ever up this way, please let me know. I’m so hoping I’ll get to meet you in person in a few weeks! πŸ™‚

          1. I will be driving in early in the a.m. for Sunday only, since the conference will be here in St. Louis next year. (Can’t wait for that one, since members of my ACFW crit group are planning to stay with me for next years conference :-). But if you’re free anytime that Sunday for breakfast, lunch, coffee, etc, let me know. We have reservations at the conference hotel. Will you be staying there as well?

People at home you’ll be missing: My husband and toddler who turns two while I’m at ACFW.

Conference goals we can pray for? That I’ll get over the jet lag quickly and positive appointments πŸ™‚

Up for any contests/awards? Not unless I’m in for a really big surprise!

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? If we go out together, expect that it will take forever for me to work out the currency and how much my part of the bill is. Just help me out and extract the correct amount from my hands/purse. The whole “tax not included in the price” + tipping complications are going to do my pregnant brain in!

Conference goals we can pray for? That I win Survivor Indy. Oh, wait, that really was a wrong answer…

    Up for any contests/awards? Nope.

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? I use way to many accents for my own personal entertainment.
I have NOT been arrested. Yet.
I have a twisted sense of humour and manage to see something funny in far too many situations.

  9. Thank you for doing this! It is a great idea! I really hope to meet you at conference!
Here are the questions and my answers!

The unique talking point that will get you going for hours: Character development in stories.

People at home you’ll be missing: My husband Chet who believes so utterly in me it makes me humble. My daughters, super son-in-laws, and soon to be born grandson Simon, who has already taken over our household from the womb.
And of course our two doggies.

Conference goals we can pray for? That I will be at the right place at the right time during conference!

Up for any contests/awards? Genesis semi-finalist in the contemporary category!(Best wishes to the finalists, go get em’!)

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? Only that I have met the most incredible people on this journey and I am so happy to be able to see so many of them face to face!

      1. Yes Laurie, we are so excited about baby Simon’s soon arrival. His mommy and daddy both have english degrees and his first shower presents were books! Lol! He will be reading early I bet.

  10. Well, I’m a little late, but that just means I get to read more responses & get to know you all a bit before the conference. In the meantime, here are my answers:

    Name: Sharyn Kopf

    Location: Bellefontaine, OH

What you write/tagline: Contemporary Women’s Fiction. I’m still searching for the right tagline but my current work focuses on bringing hope to single women over 40. So, something along those lines.

Place in the book world: Under contract for first novel and a corresponding nonfiction book. Working on a short story for an anthology and the sequel to the novel. Also, a nonfiction book I co-authored/edited was published last November.

On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: I’m an extrovert so hug away!

The unique talking point that will get you going for hours: Surviving singleness after 40. And my nieces & nephew.

People at home you’ll miss: The previously mentioned nieces & nephew plus my sister & dad, who all live near me.

Conference goals we can pray for? Since I have a contract, my main goal is to learn & encourage others. A secondary goal is to promote the manuscript editing & design business my sister & I are starting. Would love prayer that I could have clarity & wisdom in all these things.

Up for any contests/awards? I have been twice thwarted in entering the Genesis contest since joining ACFW two years ago. But, if it works out, I hope to enter my novel in the Carol Awards contest next year.

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? I love using words like “thwarted”, will probably bring my own chocolate & diet Mountain Dew with me & am opposed to the serial comma. Most of all, I have dreams of a stress-free conference where I make many new writer friends!

  11. What a great idea! Can’t wait to meet all of you!

    Name: Renee-Ann Giggie

    Location: Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada

    What you write/tagline: Fiction Suspense

Place in the book world: Self-published my first novel (Stella’s Plea) and working with an editor on the rewrites for a second (Emma’s Prayer). Might pitch this one at ACFW.

On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: I’m French. French people are huggers! I’m no exception!

The unique talking point that will get you going for hours: Writing and translation. I’m starting a ‘novel translation’ business, English to French and vice versa.

People at home you’ll be missing: My husband, Ernest. My kids are grown and no longer at home. I miss them regardless where I am.

Conference goals we can pray for? I’m petrified to pitch. I need not only the right words but the courage to say them. And also for God to use me to reach the lost for the cause of Christ through my stories.

Up for any contests/awards? Entered two short story contests earlier in the year. They’ll announce the winner of one of them this month sometimes.

Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? Like Suzy, I have met such incredible people/writers on my writing journey. I look forward to meeting even more when attending ACFW in 20 days! But who’s counting!

    Blessings everyone! Renee-Ann
