Editing

If you’ve written the novel of your heart, the website that will launch your business, or the article or eBook that will help establish credibility in your field, an experienced editor can make sure you’re presenting the cleanest, most professional and marketable story possible.

My editing background includes fiction manuscripts, memoirs, dissertations, promotional and web content, plus professional eBooks in a number of fields. I can adapt to a variety of topics and voices, and I’m familiar with APA, AP, MLA, and Chicago styles.

I offer two different kinds of editing for a variety of fiction and nonfiction projects, critiques and copy edits. All edits maintain the integrity of your unique style and voice while ensuring your copy is gleaming and ready for publication.

Here’s how I differentiate the two types of edits:

Manuscript critique: This service includes ensuring the consistency and flow of the work, correcting style and grammar issues, and identifying strengths and problem areas, suggesting resources where applicable. My goal is to not only strengthen your manuscript, but to do so in a way that helps you grow as a writer.

Copy Editing: If a critique looks at a manuscript with a wide lens, a copy edit zooms in. I will take a fine-toothed comb to sentence structure, word choice, grammar, dialogue, and correct any inconsistencies.

Policies:

  • Your first chapter is always FREE! This is an important step to establish if we are a good fit for each other. If not, I’ll be happy to recommend another editor to you.
  • My services do not include fact-checking at this time.
  • If you’ve requested a full manuscript edit, it must be completed before I get started for the sake of consistency and big-picture understanding.
