{august goals}

**Thanks for all of the love on myย New Adult blog post! The ACFW loop blew up with a lively email conversation on the topic a few days later, so it’s been fun and encouraging to see such a positive response to this genre.**

august

I can’t believe August will be here tomorrow. The eighth month of the year. And if the rest of this year is any indication, I’m pretty sure it’s going to fly!

Maybe it’s because it’s my birthday month and my last chance to make this age all it can be, but I’m setting some pretty big goals for myself in August.

I can do anything for a month, right?

My writing-related goals for August are:

  • Develop my pitch for my first manuscript
  • Polish my one-sheet copy
  • Complete NaNoWriMo to finish the bulk of my second manuscript

Yes, you read that correctly. If you don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month, which is usually in November. But the goal is to write 50,000 words in a month, which works out to 1600-1700 words a day. I’d love to have something to show for this new idea at conference–I’m that excited about it!

I’ll update you when I figure out how I’m going to make thisย happen ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you set any goals for August?ย Is anyone crazy enough to join me?

  • Ummmm…. when’s your birthday?? we might share one! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ My goals? Finish my proposal, send to agent and touch base with prospective editor who’s waiting (probably not on pins and needles lol) and then plot out next book prospectively titled, “How I became a famous author and drove my family nuts” ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • My birthday is the 31st!

Those are all very doable goals. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Can I be a co-author of that book? Thanks.

PS: Good to talk to you today! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Yep, that’s a lot, but you can do it!! I’m taking things a bit slower but still need to do a bunch. In the next three weeks, I want to finish this round of revisions (wordsmithing edit), then I’ll do a proofreading round and hopefully finish by end of August. I have my one sheet but need to print it. Still need to finish my proposal and perfect my pitch before ACFW. We got on vacation in less than 3 weeks (yay!) so August will be a busy month.

Can’t wait to meet you soon!

    • You can do it, Lindsay! Your one sheet looks amazing, by the way ๐Ÿ™‚ YAY for vacation! We are in Colorado right now, and I’ve given up on getting things done today and am going to just try to plan what I’m going to do so I can jump in full force when we get home!

Just a little over a month until I get to meet you!
